PUBLICATION ETHICS

PUBLICATION ETHICS

The Journal of Technology, Engineering, and STEM Education (JTESE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal follows the principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure the quality of scientific publications, public trust in research findings, and proper acknowledgment of authors’ contributions.

1. Article Assessment

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality and relevance. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, and their identities remain anonymous to the authors. In cases involving ethical concerns, security issues, or broader societal implications, the editorial team may seek additional expert opinions beyond the standard review process.

2. Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is original and properly cites all sources. Any use of others’ ideas, data, or text without appropriate attribution is considered plagiarism. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected. Published articles identified as plagiarized may be corrected or retracted.

3. Duplicate Submission and Redundant Publication

Manuscripts submitted to JTESE must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Simultaneous submission to multiple journals is strictly prohibited. Authors must clearly acknowledge and cite any prior work related to the submitted manuscript, including conference papers, preprints, or theses. Submissions that represent redundant publication or “salami slicing” may be rejected or withdrawn.

4. Citation Integrity

Authors must ensure that all citations are relevant and contribute meaningfully to the manuscript. Citation manipulation, including excessive self-citation or citation intended to artificially increase metrics, is not permitted. Editors and reviewers must not request unnecessary citations to their own work or to increase the journal’s citation count.

5. Data Integrity and Research Misconduct

Authors must present accurate and truthful data. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data, including images, is considered serious misconduct and will result in rejection or retraction of the article.

6. Authorship and Acknowledgments

All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the research and approved the final version of the manuscript. Authorship should accurately reflect individual contributions.

Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the acknowledgment section.

7. Corrections and Retractions

If errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, the journal will take appropriate actions in accordance with COPE guidelines. These may include:

  • Correction (Corrigendum or Erratum)

  • Expression of Concern

  • Retraction

All authors will be informed and involved in the process where applicable.
